here's an article that's pretty interesting... just wondering what your thoughts were... please leave comments!

Furthering Feminity by Maturing Masculinity

Somewhere along the line those neighborhood boys who liked having spit contest suddenly caught our eyes as boys who could be a lot more then ‘funny, sometimes disgusting boys.’ We suddenly understood that one day they could be noble princes who sweep us off our feet and take us to our castle to care and cherish us forever.
Yet how many times have we settled for less then a prince? Why did we start eying the dirty perverse street boy? When did we start accepting dirty glances instead of a protector of innocence? Why a night fling instead of forever in a castle?
The answer is simple – there are many more street boys then princes. But what can we do as women to encourage men to want to become princes instead of street boys? That answer is also simple; we have to raise the standard of what is truly biblically acceptable as a noble prince. This world encourages us women to accept the dirty perverse street boy. We have to change that then there won’t be nearly as many men wanting to be street boys. We won’t want the street boys to be our goal. Perverse street boys must not be acceptable as any goal whatsoever!
For you guys – don’t become discouraged! We are not expecting a ‘perfect prince’ but we do pray and hope for a prince. And trust me, I know many men who have reached that crown, so I know it’s not impossible. (Oh and by the way – please don’t expect a ‘perfect princess’ either - you won’t get one… but yes, there are princesses out there and princesses in training).
Right now as young women we also have to understand that most young men out there aren’t princes yet – they’re still in training… still in the process of becoming a true prince. Our mission during this time is to start becoming princesses ourselves. As we start becoming better princesses we have to help the boys become better princes.
For us as women, it’s easy to overlook the difficulty of the training all these men are going through from opening the door to averting their eyes. They need our encouragement, our praise, our insight, our friendship, and they need us to keep pointing them to Christ! And through Christ as you continue to encourage guys to become princes, you’ll start seeing guys becoming princes!

What ways as women can we encourage guys to grow in Biblical Masculinity?

1. Dressing Modestly.
Guys struggle with ‘averting’ their eyes and glances when they should. By making sure that what we wear is covering the majority of our skin we can help guys by not having to struggle with averting their eyes to something that isn’t there. When we dress to bring attention to our body it is a clear way to say that you don’t care for their struggles!

2. Encourage
When a guy opens the door for you or helps you carry something ect. he is truly showing care as a brother to a sister in a way that proves his masculinity. Praise them – thank them – don’t throw it back in their face! Guys don’t want to help girls who don’t think they need their help.

3. Avoid Physical Contact.
Okay, this is where it can get tricky. Both guys and girls desire it, so both have to fight it (outside of marriage of course). We want guys to be as pure as possible for their wives. We have to ask ourselves if that extra hug is helping anyone.

4. Be Friendly
This means be friendly! Not anything more or less! The real question we tend to ask is ‘what’s more? Where should I draw the line?’ My answer would be that when you are in a situation within friendship and suddenly signals are carried out to a guy that might mean more then ‘just friends’ then you’ve crossed the line.

5. Pray For Guys to Grow
Obviously we can help keep guys from going astray, but only God can truly grow guys into Biblical men. We need to pray for the men around us; our brothers, friends and leaders, that God would mature them in Biblical Masculinity so that they would be able to glorify God with their manliness.

I would say I agree. It's way easier to strive for that if you know that that's actualy what girls want. And, after, because of what my name means in greek, I really would be doing something self defeating if I said that I disagreed. ; )

When I read that it reminded me of YC05 and when the one guy who was speaking (I forget his name) on masculinity and how one day at little leauge his son asked another boy "Whats your favorite American Girl doll? I like Addy." It was a good laugh.....
